Mega Shara — SEO promotion and updating of the online tobacco store

Mega Shara is an online store selling tobacco, cigarettes and smoking accessories.
The client contacted us with a ready-made website, but with a clear request: to update the visual style, make changes to the interface and launch a full-fledged SEO promotion.

Where did we start: a quick site overview and list of edits

First, we looked at the site through the eyes of a buyer: how does a person find the right product, is it clear where to click, are there any small details in the design that are “broken”, and what prevents the pages from looking neat.

Next, we made a short list of point edits: what can be improved quickly and without “remaking the entire site”, but so that the difference in convenience is felt.

How we implemented the project

1) Logo: we prepared several unique options

The client wanted the logo to look neat on the website, be easy to read and remember. Therefore, we did not make one option, but prepared several different directions so that you could choose the style that best suits the brand.

How we did it:

  • we determined where the logo would be used (site header, icon, banners, possible stickers/packaging);

  • we selected options that look good on both white and darker backgrounds;

  • we made several decisions based on the mood: more restrained, more “premium”, more “light”.

2) Small changes to the site through the code

After approving the direction, we made point changes to the layout/display of individual elements. This is the case when you don’t need to “redraw the site”, but you can correct the details that affect the feeling of quality.

What exactly did we do:

  • corrected small indents, alignment, block sizes;

  • made the buttons/signatures the same style so that the pages looked neat;

  • corrected points that could interfere with the buyer placing an order (for example, if somewhere an element looked unclear or “moved away”).

3) Content plan for articles in two language versions (UA + RU)

In order for the site to be found more often through Google, it is important to have useful pages that answer people’s queries. We prepared an external article plan for the Ukrainian and Russian versions of the site at once to cover both search directions.

How we built the content plan:

  • we collected topics that are really interesting to buyers (how to choose, how to store, what is different, what to pay attention to);

  • we arranged the topics so that they support the necessary store pages (categories/selections);

  • we immediately prescribed which pages within the site it would be logical to lead the reader to from the article (so that the articles would not just give views, but transitions to the products).

4) SEO promotion plan: what we do, in what order and why

Next, we prepared a clear SEO work plan: what is important to do first, and what to do later, so that growth is stable.

What was included in the plan:

  • which pages on the site need to be “strengthened” first (categories/selections/popular products);

  • what new pages should be created to close frequent requests from people;

  • how to expand the site so that Google better understands what exactly the store sells.

5) Creating and improving landing pages

The task here is simple: when a person is looking for something specific, they should not end up on “somewhere on the main page”, but on a page where the necessary choice is immediately available and everything is clear.

What we did:

  • we added/improved pages for specific queries (selections, categories, individual product lines);

  • we checked that the page had clear titles, short explanations, logical blocks;

  • we made sure that the page looked “alive”, not empty: so that the buyer would not get lost and would reach the purchase faster.

6) Selection of sites for article promotion

To help the site gain trust faster, we selected external sites where you can post articles with a link to the store. But it’s important to do it carefully — so that it looks natural and is useful to people.

How we selected the sites:

  • we made sure that the topic was close (news/reviews/useful materials, where such a topic looks organic);

  • we rejected “garbage” options where articles are not read;

  • we planned the placement so that the links looked logical in the text, and not “for show”.

7) Crowd-linking

This is a format where links to the site appear where people are actually discussing the topic: questions and answers, discussions, recommendations. We did this carefully so that it looked natural: not “spam”, but like normal advice.

What did the client receive?

  • Updated recognizable brand.

  • A more modern look of the site.

  • A clear development plan.

  • New pages for key queries.
